The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into healthcare is revolutionizing how patients and physicians manage health information, offering new opportunities to enhance patient care, streamline processes and empower individuals. However, this transformation often prioritizes the needs of institutions over those of individual patients and their physicians. To address this imbalance, the Patient Journey Challenge invites innovators to develop AI and UI/UX design solutions that put patients at the center of their healthcare experience.

Tracks

This challenge is divided into two tracks: one focused on creating and enhancing Medical AI Assistants (MAIA), and the other on designing intuitive user interfaces that improve the patient journey.

Track #1 - UI/UX

This track focuses on transforming the patient experience within the healthcare system. Participants are tasked with designing a user-centered, open-source interface that improves the patient journey. By developing an intuitive and cohesive user experience, participants will play a crucial role in enhancing patient interactions with the healthcare system while ensuring the highest standards of privacy and data security.

Track #2 - Medical AI Assistant

This track focuses on empowering patients and physicians with control over digital health records and medical AI assistants. Participants are challenged to design a decentralized system where users can independently select both their health records and AI-based medical assistants. By leveraging the Grant Negotiation and Authorization Protocol (GNAP) standard, the goal is to create an open-source, patient-centered solution that seamlessly integrates health records with AI assistants, ensuring secure and personalized healthcare experiences. This innovation shifts the patient journey from being hospital-driven to patient- and physician-driven, prioritizing privacy, data security and user autonomy.
